While our hostel sits just half a mile from the Appalachian Trail, this region of North Georgia offers unforgettable group activities for every pace. Whether you are looking to conquer other scenic mountain trails, experience the highest peak in the state, spend an afternoon on a rental boat, tour local wineries, or play a game of pickleball, our central basecamp puts it all right at your fingertips.

APPALACHIAN TRAIL & OTHER HIKES

Hostel Around the Bend is located just 0.5 miles from the AT at Dicks Creek Gap.

In addition to the AT, the region is packed with other beautiful mountain trails. The Lake Chatuge Trail and trails at Unicoi and Moccasin Creek state parks are popular local favorites. If visiting the area during autumn, you can experience the vibrant colors of the foliage no matter which trail you choose.

We offer reliable shuttle service to various local trailheads, as well as customized slackpacking options. Whether your group is doing a thru-hike, a multi-night section, or day hiking, we can help you plan your perfect itinerary.

WATERFALLS

Many hikes in our North Georgia area feature stunning waterfalls.

A few must-see waterfalls include the paved walk to the twin waterfalls of Anna Ruby Falls, the shaded wilderness trail of High Shoals Falls, and the beautiful stream-side trek to Raven Cliff Falls.

No matter which waterfall hike your crew wants to experience, our custom shuttle service handles all the transportation to make your group's mountain excursions completely seamless.

Our region is home to some incredible sights and geological wonders.

A few classic examples your group can explore include Brasstown Bald (the highest point in Georgia with an incredible 360-degree observation deck), the rugged cliffs and dramatic suspension bridge of the nearly 1,000-foot deep Tallulah Gorge, and the vibrant, panoramic summit of nearby Bell Mountain (you can drive all the way to the top).

Head down to Lake Chatuge for a full day of boat and jet ski rentals, paddleboarding, and lakeside picnics. For shopping and sightseeing, take an easy day trip to explore the boutique storefronts in Hiawassee, the Bavarian-themed town of Helen, or local art galleries and Appalachian culture in Clayton. Looking for friendly competition? We can also drop your crew off at the local court for a fast-paced game of pickleball!
